Coco had lost vision in his right eye due to cataract and retinal degeneration. His left eye had been removed surgically to restore comfort after he developed painfully high pressures inside the eye (glaucoma). Yet visitors come to his house and spend hours playing with him before realizing that he no longer has vision.
His family will call out the name of a specific toy and Coco will find it in a box stuffed with dozens of toys. They launch the toy down a long hallway so that he can zoom after it, skidding and sliding at top speed to fetch it. His favorite is the ball with the bell but the soft, fuzzy stuffed animals are a close second.
If anyone ever doubts whether blind dogs live joyful lives, Coco can help them see the truth clearly.
